About

what is the factory

The Service Science Factory is a place where researchers and students meet with businesses to create new service oriented solutions, or re-think existing services. A network with scholars from diverse disciplines search for innovative solutions for a wide range of challenges and sectors. It’s all about giving the contributors the freedom – but also the framework – to innovate on services.

Participation

Crucial in this initiative is the participation of businesses and entrepreneurs. To facilitate their work, physical location will be opened in Maastricht, Heerlen and Venlo in 2010. The focus here will be on document, pension and health services to begin with. Join us in making the Service Science Factory a place of synergic encounter and mutual benefit!

Openness

Service Science per definition integrates a range of quite diverse disciplines, demanding openness and transdisciplinary thinking by its adversaries. The Service Science Factory takes an approach to Service Science that focuses on the managerial and the customer-oriented perspective. This includes, for example, that we do not create IT solution or software ourselves. Instead, we want to take into account which opportunities ICT is already providing, making it a means rather than an end.
